Connect with Your Fellow Canadian Engineers

The Lassonde Engineering Society provides its members with an amazing opportunity to connect and learn through a variety of external conferences throughout every academic year. The Society is a member of two external organizations that provide this services, the Engineering Student Soceities’ Council of Ontario (ESSCO) and the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students (CFES). Below is a bit of info about each organization and all the conferences that we participate in. We will also post application links as they come out.

Below is a list of all the conferences available for registration right now.

the delegate fee for all conferences is $150 CAD only, we subsidize all remaining costs (ignore any other prices on the delegate packages).

If you'd like the opportunity to explore Canada, learn more about your engineering field, and network with professionals on a provincial / national level, apply by November 5th through the form below.

ENGINEERING STUDENT SOCEITIES’ COUNCIL OF ONTARIO (ESSCO)

Info

ESSCO is an association that represents engineering societies from 16 universities across Ontario, and acts as the link between engineering students and professional associations, academia, and government.

All of the original founding schools still hold membership with ESSCO. Two other schools, OnTech University and York University, became members of ESSCO in 2005. The social climate of engineering of the time was one of the primary reasons why the association was formed, and to this day it provides a variety of services from conferences to advocacy support.

ESSCO President’s Meeting

The ESSCO President's Meeting (ESSCO PM) cultivates an environment for VP Externals and Presidents to create a personal connection with each other and plan ahead for the coming year. The meeting aims to enrich the provincial community by facilitating a space for information sharing between our member schools.

Professional Engineers of Ontario Student Conference

The Professional Engineers of Ontario Student Conference (PEO-SC) is primarily focused towards preparing students in their final year of schooling for taking on the engineering workforce, starting to work towards their PEng and all the opportunities that are available to them.

First Year Integration Conference

ESSCO’s First Year Integration Conference (FYIC) presented by OSPE (The Ontario Society of Professional Engineers) is a conference focused on getting first year students involved in their member schools as the leaders of tomorrow and also introduces them to the provincial community.

Annual General Meeting

ESSCOs Annual General Meeting (ESSCO AGM) is focused around promoting leadership from attendees as well as summing up the work of the current ESSCO teams term and electing those who will lead ESSCO in the next term. Attendees can expect to take part in elections and meet student leaders from across Ontario.

If you are interested in running for an ESSCO position, this is a great conference to attend! Be on the look out for campaign advertisements as we approach the event date.

CANADIaN FEDERATION OF ENGINEERING STUDENTS (CFES)

INFO

The CFES supports growth and communication within its members to ensure their moral, intellectual, cultural, academic, social, and economic well-being. The Federation represents and promotes Canadian undergraduate engineering students on a national and international level. The CFES will not align itself with any political partisan movement.

The goal of the CFES is to solicit, represent, organize and exchange views, information, and activities pertinent to the goals of the members at a national level to improve the quality and scope of Canadian engineering education and experience.

The CFES President’s (CFES PM) meeting is an intimate gathering between the CFES Board of Directors, the National Executive, and members. This meeting brings together engineering student leaders from across Canada to discuss, engage, and share ideas and experiences. This meeting serves as an introduction to the CFES and a chance to deeply understand your role as a member and stakeholder of the organization, a chance to network with fellow engineering societies and informational sessions.

CFES President’s Meeting

The CFES is proud to offer the Conference on Diversity in Engineering (CDE) as a valuable service to its members. Previously known as the National Conference on Women in Engineering (NCWIE), CDE aims to develop knowledge surrounding the variety of individuals, cultures and perspectives found within engineering communities.

Conference on Diversity in Engineering

The Conference on Sustainability in Engineering (CSE) is a three-day national conference to educate and engage engineering students on issues of sustainability and how they can tackle it within their engineering career and everyday life.

Conference on Sustainability in Engineering

Canadian Engineering Leadership Conference

Delegates attending the Canadian Engineering Leadership Conference (CELC) are provided with a fantastic opportunity to meet with and learn from other student leaders and industry professionals. This national transfer of knowledge is invaluable, as it provides students with tangible, real-life examples and advice on how to improve their personal and professional skills, their engineering societies and their faculty as a whole. CELC boasts a wide range of speakers and topics ranging from professional presentations from our sponsors and industry partners to student led round-tables and panels that dissect the finer points of running student organizations.
